Sally Reid transferred from Rotherhithe. She was Blue Watch's first female driver and a strong swimmer who competed for the Brigade team. Sharp witted and jovial, she easily fitted in at Blackwall. Soon after her arrival the pump crew, led by Billy Ray, decided to play a prank on her by pretending the appliance had been stolen while they were having tea with an elderly woman. However, Sally turned the tables on them by having a policeman friend pull the appliance over and accuse the crew of stealing it.
Sally's former boyfriend Eddie was a drug dealer who constantly caused her problems. He borrowed her car and didn't return it for days, and one night her flat was raided by the drugs squad. She had a brief romance with Kevin Medhurst but thereafter her interest in him cooled. She was angry when Kevin headbutted Eddie on her doorstep, thinking he was doing her a favour.
While Sally was on standby at Rotherhithe, she encountered a humourless female Sub Officer who was unmoved by Sally's cocky wisecracks, and accused her of having only joined the Fire Brigade in order to get attention from men. Sally learned that her elderly father was ill, and transferred to Wembley to be nearer to him.
