James Marcus (born Brian T. James) played Station Officer Sidney Tate in the television movie and the first three series.

Marcus' television career dates back to the 1960s. His credits include The Bill, Heartbeat, Lovejoy, Minder, Jane Eyre, Dodgem, The Naked Civil Servant, The Professionals, Casualty, Grandad, Terry and June, Z Cars, Mind Your Language, Woof!, Doctor Who and The Sweeney.

Outside of London's Burning he is perhaps best known for playing Georgie, one of Alex's droogs in Stanley Kubrick's controversial 1971 film, A Clockwork Orange. Marcus co-wrote and directed the 1989 film, Tank Malling, which starred Ray Winstone, Amanda Donohoe and his London's Burning co-stars Glen Murphy, Sean Blowers, Rupert Baker and Ross Boatman.
