Maggie and Sicknote are rehearsing for the Ship Aground talent night. The Watch are visited by ADO Davis, who will soon be carrying out a safety inspection at Blackwall. Nick is suspicious of the Brigade's motives for choosing Blackwall to be inspected first. A driver is distracted and crashes into a huge billboard. The man who was putting the billboard up is left hanging precariously, while an irate woman is trapped underneath in her car. The Watch arrive and free them.
Recall returns home and finds Clingfilm practising the tuba for the talent contest. Clingfilm has also rearranged the furniture and prepared an unappealing dinner of hazelnut and beetroot rissoles. Jack visits Hilary, the mother of one of Stephen's friends, at her office. Nick attends a family get together, and is introduced to a woman named Sophia. He realises his family are trying to matchmake for him. Gregg goes on a second date with Tiggy. Kelly is packing for her upcoming holiday to Fuengirola. George is still annoyed about it and worries she will be meeting men in bars.
While sorting through his nan's belongings, Billy finds an old newspaper article about his dad, revealing that he was not killed while serving in the Falklands but died in a brawl in a German bar. He confronts his mother about it. Sicknote has taken an interest in local history through his chats with Grenfell and buys a metal detector. However, he discovers that Geoff visited the library first and borrowed all the local history books. The Watch attend a fire at a paint factory. Nick returns home to find Marianne waiting for him.
