Episode 1 (series 13) is the first episode of the thirteenth season of London's Burning. It was first broadcast on January 21, 2001.
Episode Summary
In a recap of the previous episode, fireworks explode at the warehouse shout. DO Griggs orders all crews to return inside the warehouse to fight the fire. Dan, Joe, Sicknote and Sally are all blown to the ground as an explosion rips trough the building.
A few months later, Blue Watch line up for role call at their new station. It is revealed that Joe and Sicknote were killed in the warehouse fire and Dan resigned from the Brigade to go travelling. Due to their staff shortage they have also had their pump replaced with an ALP. The watch have two new transfers: Ronnie 'Hi Ho' Silver, from Shadbrook, and Adam Benjamin. Hyper has also been promoted to Leading Firefighter permanently
A car crashes into a van carrying tar drums. The driver of the van goes to call for help while the woman inside is getting really uncomfortable. The Pump Ladder is stuck in heavy traffic. Adam and George are driving around in the ALP talking about the shout they were just called out that turned out to be a false alarm.
The Pump Ladder crew arrive at their shout and help the woman who has gone into labour. Someone flags down the ALP to report a fire in a flat, Adam runs in without his BA after the man tells them that there is a woman still stuck inside while George calls for backup. Shadbrook arrives as Adam comes out with the woman. Geoff and Sally help deliver the baby (a case of deja vu for Geoff) and announce that it is a baby boy. The woman decides to name the baby Pearce after Geoff. En route back to the station the ALP passes the old Blackwall Fire Station. George remarks that there are plans to turn it into a fancy restaurant and that Sicknote would be turning in his grave at the thought of it.
