Episode 12 (series 8) is the twelfth episode of the eighth season of London's Burning. It was first broadcast in the UK on ITV on November 26, 1995.

Episode Summary[]

It is the aftermath of the fire at the bedsit. Blue Watch have been called back to the scene to discuss it with the Fire Investigation Team. DO Quinn wants to know the state of the building's fire safety precautions before the blaze started. Recall is still refusing to budge over Laura's move to Scotland with the kids and intends to remain in London. It emerges that the bedsit was virtually a death trap with non-existent fire precautions and Quinn intends to have it closed down. Nick unsuccessfully voices his opposition, as it will leave the occupants homeless. Sicknote returns home and finds Jean taking the tandem back to the bike shop to be sold.

Billy and his nan have a row about him seeing his mum which ends with him contemplating moving out. Laura, Ben and Jamie take a coach bound for Scotland and Recall sees them off. Quinn sees through his decision to close down the bedsit, despite the objections of the council's housing officer. Hallam calls on Sandra at work to meet for lunch as they arranged, but she is busy and has to cancel. They end up arguing and he storms off. En route home, he decides to call on Jenny instead and they end up sleeping together. Bayleaf and Clare's restaurant in Littlehampton is in the final stages of refurbishment. Quinn serves the landlord of the bedsit with a prohibition notice. The landlord does not take the news well and attacks Quinn and has to be restrained by the police.

Pearce still hasn't forgotten seeing Hallam with Jenny and blackmails him into mentioning his suspicions about Kevin's brother Micky attacking Maggie to Nick. The pump crew are called out to a trapped person. When they arrive the caller admits that it is actually a hamster stuck in a tuba. Eventually they manage to blast it out with air from a BA set and Billy catches it. Nick calls Kevin into his office and urges him to come clean about Micky before Pearce does. In the morning the watch are called to investigate smoke issuing from manhole covers in a residential area. As they are busy sealing off the road, one of the covers explodes, throwing Bayleaf onto his back. He looks up to see the manhole cover in mid air plummeting straight towards him.
